i spend a lot of time studying the matches that i am in because i am very focused on matchmaking., destiny uses this system to match you up with similar skilled people with yourself. it's as if they implemented it just for the sake of saying "we have skill based matchmaking". if you were to go out with five of your friends it would probably be a better time than if we tried to find 5 random people for you to go out with, no matter how smart we were in our selection process…anyway, this leads me to matchmaking rating. i can't win a game if i go in solo and i consider myself an average skill player in pvp. player by player or the team’s averaged total—–does it try to avoid situations where there’s a wide variance in the skill levels of individual players but a technically equal level of skill between the teams? does the "block" functionality do anything with matchmaking now or does that just stop communication? as each player plays games, their matchmaking rating goes up or down depending on if they win or lose.)• sometimes a highly skilled player buys a new copy of ow to “start fresh” on a new account• sometimes you have internet problems• sometimes you play drunk or tired… or both• that first game of the night…• …that last game of the night• “life”so this brings me to some thoughts i’ve been having about overwatch. besides these, the system follows the same rules as casual matchmaking. in our second stress test, we had other things prioritized over ping-based matchmaking such as skill and time. there are some arguments to be made for respawning based on when you grab it for certain items like in quake 3 but as a whole, static timers are the most fair. that’s because in recent weeks, matches in the crucible have been extra competitive, hard to find, and exceptionally laggy—typical signs that a matchmaking system is a skill based system. but a permanent and ranked playlist would give the crucible elite a place to play with similarly rated teammates against similarly skilled teams and leave the scrubs with no thumbs playing only other scrubs with no thumbs. or that if you're in the top 12% of players you're likely to matched on a team with several people who are less skilled than you are? and maybe in that case give players the option of tuning their matchmaking settings to prioritize skill over wait time and connection. trials accomplishes this fairly well and i'm interested to see how the new matchmaking will work with teams matched together with similar win counts. my skill must be on par with a kid who has ebola from ethopia. you mix the two up and start weighing in "skill-based" matchmaking, it makes life for solo players a living hell. then people try to judge you based on win percentage. your average game, i'll be in top 3 as well, and get around 20 kills or so, but every single game i get matched into has lesser skilled players on my team, and some mlg types on the other, and every single game is a loss.

after 10 games the system will place a player on the lower side of their skill band once qualified, allowing for room to grow. combined with the top post, i think i have a pretty good handle on everything matchmaking now! while the game is trying super hard to average out the skill level on your team, the other team has a balanced scale of players - this ends up mis-matching the game very poorly. rather than pooling together people of similar skill, it will match 1 or 2 decently-skilled people up with a team of terrible players and calling it "even". it is not based on any factual game data, so take it with a grain of salt. in december, bungie implemented a new skill based matchmaking system without informing fans. at first i thought it was just random that i was getting stuck with bad teammates, but when this happens over the course of a year and persists into ttk, you have to come to a conclusion that bungie's matchmaking algorithm is definitely trying to screw over anyone with a half decent k/d or w/l by pairing them up with teammates who can't tell their asses from their elbows. if matchmaking was not skill-based, you would probably be placed with teammates than you far more often, when you're a (for example) top 10% player. all it makes me want to do is take a break from playing crucible every 2-3 days while i wait for matchmaking to decide that maybe i'm not fit to carry a team of 5 other players against some organized fireteam enemy. gold[–]goa-avid 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (0 children)i hate the way the matchmaking works, i feel like i can't run solo games:Permalinkembedsavegive gold[–]toxicxc 3 points4 points5 points 1 year ago (0 children)and it gets even worse the better you get. if i have control i pick games on latency not thus damn skill nonsense. allow me to share some of my personal thoughts on matchmaking..Permalinkembedsaveparentgive goldload more comments (1 reply)[–]semperj550 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (2 children)bungie wants to promote their new 'competitive' hellish systems without actually coming out and saying skill-based matchmaking. means pvp for players like me is forever ruined because of skilled based matchmaking. so we try to avoid things that discourage grouping and we want to continually improve the social systems so that you’ll find it easier and easier to group with people you have chosen to play with. got a lvl 1 guy in our group full of 100+there is no matchmaking. gold[–]iniquity_rhymes 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)skill based matchmaking is one of the main reasons cod aw died off so quick. is nothing more frustrating than wanting to go into a casual game of pvp with a new gun or crazy loadout, only to get absolutely stomped by the opposition because you're not living up to your skill potential and refusing to carry your team to the win. we looked into it and found that hundreds of other players had avoided him (he’s a nice guy – they avoided him because they did not want to play against him, not because of misbehavior). we’re matchmaking people all over the world and we want to match people to the closest servers for the best play experience. theory, i like bungie's design philosophy - i generally have much more fun in crucible than i ever did in halo because i'm not a super-high-skilled mlg pro and i actually get to win a few games in crucible when i go in solo.
